Following are guidelines for activity and responsibilities for Guides.
Updates: Post regular updates on the Guide board and maintain all records on the web site.
Number of Students: There is not a solid minimum, but you should have an average of two active students at a time, with no more than a month at a time with no students.
Reviewing All Monk Students: Regularly review all of the students (read other guide's reports and/or review your Guide page, use "all list" students are on top of the list) if there is ANYONE you have doubts about, talk to their teacher or to the elder.
Potential Monks: Watch for, and share information about, potential monks. There is currently a running list with comments of seekers on mantras. (See Finding Students)
Potential Guides: Watch for them among Walkers. Remember activity is important, but more importantly we need people who demonstrate knowledge, demeanor, humility, compassion as well.
Gatherings: - Host at least one Gathering (Community and Monk discussion group) or one path-only Monk class each month. Make comments on seekers and students who attend. (not just a list, but comment on their RP, activity etc.) Post this on Guide board.
- Co-host additional Gatherings and Path classes as requested by Walkers doing their Rank quests.
Items and Marks: There is not a set minimum for marks and quest completions because the number is obviously dependent on requests - but if you are around and active, there should be some activity in these areas on each report. (see Ranks for info on Walker quests)
Availability and Responsiveness - - a) You don't have to be here all the time. You don't have to be in the circle, but you should have your path chat on and respond whenever you are able. Attend Walker-hosted events when you can.
- b) Make sure the Elder and other guides don't get persistent questions or reports from people not being able to contact you, even by n-mail.
- c) Do not get a red dot at all or and do not get an unannounced red X for more than one week. If you tell the Elder in advance, the X time may be extended.
- d) If you need a leave of absence - vacation, brief period of intense rl activity - tell the Elder before or as it happens. If you will be inactive for more than a week, make arrangements for all current activities to be covered. This includes walkers working on item quests, students in training, potential students you are talking to and any community members working on quests.
- e) If your LoA extends past a month, you will moved downstairs while you are gone. As long as you did all of the above, you will be considered "retired" and you will be able to move back upstairs when you return and settle back in as long as you maintain your activity.
