*Avoid even the appearance of impropriety - do not train close friends, spouses, siblings or romantic interests. ((irl or in game)) Clan-Kin should be ok, but be cautious and ask another guide to take them if you are not completely comfortable.*
First, Review the Wandering Monk post on "Joining the Monks"
There are still many people out in the community that do not realize that our seekers are not encouraged to write guides a letter requesting training. As this post outlines, they are to "Seek" recognition and we must "Find" them.
This means it is your responsibility as a Guide to watch for attendees at events, Poets who ask questions and show an interest in the path. Remember that training is a time for evaluation as well as teaching. This process is a bit of work, but should balance out from not having to deal with arguments, drama or complaints about Monks later.
Keep an eye out in public for those who are exhibiting Monkish behavior. Make a note on the Guide board and/or mention them to someone you know is looking for students if you don't have room. (I'm working on a systematic way of recording these observations, but for now, include them in the "potentials" section of your activity report even if you won't be taking them yourself)
After each Gathering you host or event you attend, write a brief list with a short comment on each attendee. (ie: "slept the whole time", or "was a bit shy but seemed to keep up" or "participate in the discussion" or "Is a (P)oet" Is a Seeker." "Maya's Student" that sort of thing) Post this on the Guide board. Since he Guide board has Nexus dates, be sure to add the RL date of the Gathering.
If you find a student you are unable to teach but you feel would be a good Monk, be sure to let other guides know.
