The knowledge any Monk should have is a basic understanding of the History of Siddhartha and Buddhism, an ability to describe the Five Precepts the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path, and to discuss Karma, Enlightenment and Nirvana. They should also understand the Monk Vows.

We cannot assume that any player already knows what a Monk is like. We cannot assume that "everyone knows" our stance on PK, or staying in Character or about our way of dressing, way of talking, being compassionate, humble, kind. Be sure to cover these things with ALL students early in their training.

I understand that the amount of time each student needs is different. I feel that each student should be in training at least 6 weeks. Some may take considerably longer. This is ACTIVE training - Don't accept them, leave them hanging a month and count that in the time. Also, if they go for a planned time away or go MIA, don't count the time they were gone.

Once you take a student follow ALL guidelines for record keeping . (With the way that we have very different schedules it is crucial that we do good record keeping and good communications.) Again, this is a time to catch any potential problems, to retrain if possible, or to drop them if the problems persist.
