*The ability to give Monk marks to community members is a right and a responsibility. Review the Guide Vows before beginning to give marks. Never trade marks. Never sell marks. Do not mark your friends or family without full reporting and making absolutely sure you can justify the mark if asked.*

Community Item Quests::

Prayer Wheel -Sometimes used as prizes, has also been given for a quest - a letter or story describing uses of prayer wheels and describing the wheel the person would like to have made for them.

Inzens - You may forge Inzens for yourself, but NOT for your alts.

The requirements for Inzens are very specific - Be sure to check their legend carefully and make SURE they have all the marks required. The marks are not transferable - ie: a purged character who had earned them but is now starting over, a person with all the marks but who asked for them on a different character does not count as earning them.

You can also use Berig's search, but remember it lists each separately and some have requirements of multiples. ((www.bodhisanctum.com/inzen.php))

Community Marks::

Vow/Blood Oath - you can do any time for anyone, as long as they have been married/bonded at least 5 years. (Yuri/hyul)

Forgivenesses you can use the quest for, but especially for people who lost alot in Armor quests, you don't have to. Anyone who has left a path, try to check with their former elder. As for criminals, you may forgive, but you don't have to and you can make the quest harder if you like. Several Guides have told me they often have someone write something that goes with the reason they are being forgiven instead of the gathering quest.

Family mark - It's called "Strenghten Bond" - It does take one Ink to cast this spell. If someone contacts you for this, go to the web site and find their family and make sure they are on the list. (also good to double check spelling while you are there.) Click the dot next to their name to toggle to green. If they are the Family head they should give you Trigram Keyset. If they are joining an existing family they should give you three separate trigram keys.

Eightfold Path Marks - These can be earned in three different ways.
  • The Class - If someone has Right Views, they can take any of the other classes. Upon successful completion of the assigned tasks, they have earned that mark.
  • Nomination for Observed Random Event - If Monks observe someone doing or saying something that shows a step (most often Right Action or Right Speech) they can nominate the person for the mark. These nominations are posted on the Guide board and as long as there are no _object_ions from any guides(I usually give one week), they can then be given.
  • Individual Study - Can be for the entire eight steps or for just one. If someone comes to you for this, make sure they truly understand the step before you mark them.

Inner Peace - well, there is a sort of quest that you can use, I believe it's on the Guide board. But they should have the same info as basic Monk training.

Enlightenment - the Mystery Mark - though technically it is a community mark, for now it is only used regularly inside the path as reward for ascension and for final Rank. There is no standard quest for it. If you have a non-monk you would like to give this mark to talk to the Elder first. It isn't questable and it is not often given.
