  SloePoke
First of let me introduce myself. My name is SloePoke and I was born into a wonderful family in Hyul 33. We lived in the southen most part of Nagnang in the small fishing village of Kyongju. My father was a noble warrior and provided well for my family. My mother was my main influence since my father was away so much. She was a poet of a very caring nature and was much in demand for local hunting parties. It was often said she would almost bring herself close to death to make sure the rest of the party would have enough health to survive.   We spent much time sitting on the docks by the sea watching the sun set and talking of many things. it was on one of these days that I first talked to her of things that had been on my mind for some time. I had recently been on hunting parties of my own and was slowly learning the ways of the poet. But I told her I still felt there was something missing in my life, a sense of purpose, a sense of being. It was something that had been on my mind for some time. She understood that this was something I needed to discover on my own and with much reluctance we decided it was time for me to set out on my own to discover the world.

So I set off on my journey for self discovery not knowing where i was headed or what i would find. I spent some time wandering from town to town existing on small game I could hunt on my own and berries that were available everywhere. I grew in hunting abilities and met many new friends but still felt something tugging inside me.

One day as I was sitting on Dae shore casting pebbles into the the water a young Monk approached. "You look troubled" he said. I replied I was not so much troubled as perplexed. "Ahhh, I felt as you did at one time" he said. "Follow me and maybe I can show you where you may be able to start to find some answers." We walked a short distance and entered the Bohdi Sanctum. I immediately felt more at ease and felt a calming influence. He told me to sit in the cool grass and he would return in a moment. He came back and handed me a scroll. It was the Wandering Monk. "I believe in these pages you might be able to find something you need" he said.

I lost all track of time as I read story after story of many poets who were as I am. Seeking, Searching for that path to enlightenment. I thought I had been on a journey for some time but realized my journey had just begun. I too seek the path to enlightenment but am aware that I need help. That is why I am writing you today. I believe the Monk path is where I belong and hope I can further my training with the assistance of a Sensei.
