  Jayak
  Jayak's history:
Jayak was born the son of a strong warrior, and a kind, loving healer. As he grew, his father always sought to teach him the ways of the warrior. Unfortunately his body was too frail to even wear the heavy armors of the warrior trade. His mother, a somewhat timid woman, wished to teach him the ways of the healng arts. However, his father was none to happy about the idea of his son choosing such a trade. From a young age his mother could sense the innate power of healing and protection within him. As he grew, his mother would secretly teach him to harness his powers, as well as give him lessons on how to make simple curative potions and herbal remedies. Around the age of fifteen his small village, in Shilla, was attacked by the Shillan military for harboring renegades. As his father held back a number of the attackers, with the aid of his mother, she was suddenly struck by a stray arrow. Without her healing powers, his father could not hold them off for long, and the battle was lost. Jayak and his older brother, Yamiji, hid in a small hut outside of town as the attackers ravaged their village, searching for the hidden renegades. When they finally returned to the palace to report their victory, Jayak returned to the razed village, and found his mother and father dead. He picked up his mother's treasured staff, and returned to his brother. The two brothers packed supplies and left on a long journey. One day, They came across a man wearing only rags and walking heavily on a staff. They asked the man what misfortune befell him, and why he was so destitute. He replied simply "I have met no misfortune, I am quite happy". Jayak asked him how this could be, he personally was quite hungry and his were feet sore from travelling. He heard their stomachs rumble and pulled from a pouch around his shoulder a bowl and a small bag of rice. He invited the brothers to sit and share his humble meal. As they ate, they conversed about his current situation, he told me he was on a journey to find enlightenment, and that he had given up all his wordly goods, so that he may live his life without suffering from discontent. Jayak asked him how I might learn more of this enlightenment and he mentioned the Sangha, a community of monks who helped him begin his journey. So I sought out these monks, and that is how Jayak came to be where he is now.
