Wise old Monks know that one way to help young ones learn is by repetition and concentration. I have adapted a game I played in my youth to share with the community. It will be fun! you may also learn something, and some of you will win prizes! The subject of this round of the Concentration Game is: * ~ * THE FOUR BOUNDLESS STATES * ~ * Considered friends on the way to Nirvana. Loving-kindness - near enemy is caring, far enemy is hatred Compassion - near enemy is pity, far enemy is cruelty Sympathetic Joy - near enemy is hypocrisy, far enemy is envy Equanimity - near enemy is indifference,?far enemy is impatience The near enemy is a quality that can masquerade as the original.? The far enemy is the clearly opposite quality - the boundless state serves as an antidote for the qualities mentioned as the enemies. HOW TO PLAY: There will be an array of books. Under some of the books will be items representing the Four Boundless States. Each participant will select two books to look under. If they do not find a match, the books are returned. Once someone does find a match -they receive the items as a reward for concentrating and for correctly reciting the the Boundless State the items represent and their near and far enemy from the notes that will be available ((they will be in my profile)). ((There are no actual items under the books, they are simply a visual aid.)) |
