  San-Trang
The San-Trang's of Western of Paek-jae

The San-trang name originates from the marshlands of western Paek-jae, and moving as far north as Hamgyong nam-do. It's meaning has been lost in translation, but its derivative "San'Tran" is believed to mean "Holy Monk"... or "Trecherous pirate" No one is really sure. Typically the family was known to fish the marshlands of western Paek-jae for Mud fish and harvesting the local bamboo, but before 600 hundred years ago no one is really sure where they came from. For the past five generations though, Many young men who use the San-Trang name move to Ilbon by boat never to be seen or heard from again. Women of my family often were not held in high esteem, their births and deaths often went unrecorded, but it's said they held great power in the village.   As recently as Hyul's conornation, and the invasion of Bluestone's scalliwags, this close-knit family has immigrated as far north as Buya and Kugnae. Speaking a tongue similar to that spoken in lands west of Han it is often hard to understand when spoken by people from western Paek-jae, Specificly the San-Trang family, for their traditions include the removal of the end of the tongue in some religious sects.

I (Meiko San-Trang) am the only Buyan speaking and writing descendant of Kaol San'tran, the oldest known warrior-poet of my bloodline. Recording this in the commonly spoken tongue of the realm to register my family in your lands. Kaol San'Tran was a well known Monk in the now lost village of Kaang Pataal near the southern tip of Paek-jae. He recorded many of his teachings and philosophies in silver and gold scrolls before being forced into battle against an unknown enemy where he was killed... his writings now lost forever in time.

San-trang family members are very supersticious, but believe mostly in philosophies most similar to your Monks or Geomancers. They will avoid battle, but defend themselves and their family. They will not harm a living thing unless prevoked. San-Trangs are not known to give up, or surrender ever, even under the most fierce odd's they'll gladly die before surrendering. If a San-trang man see's an other man dying of thirst on the side of a path he will help him, no matter who the man is. They are very Humble in themselves, but Proud in their ways.

Family stories describe Kaang Pataal as a "Paradise of treasure, where the gods touched the earth". My family is the royalty of Kaang Pataal, the land where the gods touched the earth.
