Born into the Norioaku family, Astray's biological parents were kept a secret from him, for if he made future enemies, they wouldn't be able to use his family against him. Astray was told that he was found just outside the gates of buya by the Savage, Krmit.
Astray took to his mentor, Orion. Like Orion, Astray strove to impress and tried never to let him down. Orion had to pull some strings and make a deal with the Horde to be assigned as Astray's mentor. The two grew closer as times passed. One day, Astray's curiosity rose. He asked Orion if he had known his parents but only to find Orion snoring away. Orion heard him, but he knew that he couldn't tell him... Not yet. This was hard for Orion to do, keeping such a large secret away from his son. Astray shrugged off and began his tasks on officially becoming a part of the Horde.
While Astray was off completing his tasks, Orion met with Kikoura. Orion told Kikoura what had happened today and asked when the right time was. Kikoura whispered, "soon." Astray returned with the Wheat and apples that he was instructed to attain and saw Kikoura for the first time. Astray exclaimed, "who'se that!?" Orion explained that Kikoura was only a geomancer, reading his fortune. Astray shot back, "I don't like her." This hurt Kikoura deeply and so she left. She felt her heart sink and began to cry when she was out of sight.
Astray's induction into the horde came, brought in by Krmit and mentored by Orion. Astray received a brand of the war axe on his right shoulder blade and was now a part of the horde. This was a big day for Astray, for he was also to learn who his parents were, for now he had the Horde to protect him. Not knowing how to tell him, Orion wrote him a letter saying that he was the father and Kikoura was the mother. Astray was both shocked and full of joy.
Orion took Astray to meet his mother and apologized for the rude comment. Kikoura accepted and gave the two a large group hug.
From there on I found love and acceptance in the Noiroaku family as their son. I admire the strength of my father and the wits of my mother. I would like to be marked so I can tell all who my family is. Barbarians, Kikoura and Orion, and my many siblings.
