The Twins
Min Yi and Ze Yi were the closest of sisters. They had no choice but to hold on to the most simplest of bonds. When they were about the age of fifteen, their mother had decided that she no longer wished to take care of them. A harlot, their mother was shamed by her village because of the fact that she had an affair with a married man. Their mother was forced to take care of them for her foolish ways. Perhaps if it was just one child, their mother could have come to her senses. But two just seemed to be too much for her. It did not help that Min Yi looked so much like her father. It was on a dark and stormy night that their mother decided to get rid of her burden. Seeing that she gave birth to this constant weight on her shoulders at the age of fifteen, you could say that her knowledge of child bearing was quite minimal. She hated how she had to raise these two children. Every second they grew, she despised them even more. They were now at the age when she gave birth to them. Something inside of her wanted them gone even more than ever. She waited all day to start her evil deed.
She prepared them dinner as usual. Afterwards, she told them she had a treat for them. Some tea. It was quite unusual for the twins to have any sort of luxury, and tea was on that list. But rather then to question their mother, they drank their tea as their mother had asked them to. They thought it strange how she gleered at them as they drank slowly. They suddenly knew why as they quickly became woozy, and found themselves passed out at the dinner table. Their mother made her way outside, where she had set up everything. She grabbed the wooden wheel barrel and pushed it closer to the back door. Carrying each twin outside, she threw them in the wheel barrel with a loud thud. When she was done, the sudden thought of her being loud crept into her mind. But then she remembered there was no one around for miles. She made her way into the forrest.. and kept walking. She walked for what seemed an eternity, but was in fact mere minutes. The noises of the forrest did not seem to bother her. Her eyes were glazed over; Her mission was so present in her mind, that nothing else seemed to matter.
After a short while, she came across a small clearing. It was a strange sight: No trees graced the ground, and it seemed to be a perfect circle. When looking around, one could easily be lost and confused as to where they were. The surrounding forrest was so dense, that when you peered into it, you instantly became bewildered. If you looked long enough, it seemed like a large creature staring back at you. The noises of the forrest seemed to echo there so perfectly, it was hard to tell where they were coming from. It seemed as if they all were right on top of you. Despite (or perhaps it was because of) the eerie setting, she pushed the wheel barrel harder. Once she found the center of the clearing, using all her might, she flipped the wheel barrel to it's side, knocking out it's contents with a loud thud. The sound of soft flesh hitting the hard floor echoed so loudly, you'd expect neighboring villages to hear the noise. But, there was no response. No quick rustling of any trees. No sign of the rest of the world noticing what was going on in this small circle.
She made her way to the very center of this circle. Reaching into a large satchel, she removed two similar sized rocks. If one were to peer closely, they would notice the strange symbols carved upon these rocks. Moving to the circle, she acted as if she knew exactly where to go. As she placed the two rocks upon the north western area of the circle, she smiled with a sort of demented delight. Reaching into the large satchel yet again, she began to pull out items one by one, placing them around the circle in a sort of planned manner. Once the items were set in place, she made her way to the center. Pulling a few tree limbs from the large satchel, she began to create a fire pit. She removed two silvery branches out, as the darkness begun to consume the surrounding forrest, and with a glittery echo of a bell-like noise emitting from those silvery branches, she set them atop the pile. With the fast strike of two small pebbles, she lit the fire pit ablaze. A strange music began to flow from it, as if the fire caused the forrest to sing. A smile more demented than before grew across her face yet again, and would not fade away from here on out. She made her way over to the unconscious bodies of her daughters, and placed each one on either side of the fire pit. She pulled the last remaining item from the dark purple satchel: A small vial of some sort of sand-like substance. With that menacing grin, she stood at the bottom of the fire pit, and poured the contents upon the now blazing fire. Looking to the starless sky, she began to shout:
"I llac ot eht erutaerc fo eht krad, Ot eht eno ohw sgnirb raef ot lla, Morf eht tsepeed shtped fo eht dlrowrednu, I llac ot eeth! Emoc ot em!
Tuo fo eht krad tserof, Htaeneb eseht sselrats seiks, Gnirb flesruoy ot em! Dir em fo ym thgilp!"
A strange, eerie, silence surrounded the forest. As her laughter became louder and louder, the fire grew bigger and bigger. A shadow darker than the night sky began to fill up behind the fire. Before the woman noticed what was going on, the shadow had become a form of a man. The smell alone was horrifying, but she was too caught up in her own madness, she did not notice as the creature began to take shape. The creature was taller than the woman, his power could easily take her over. It did not have any noticable features, except for those eyes. The color of the burning fire, they felt as if they could burn into your very soul. As she screamed in a maddening delight, the creature was soon standing before her.
The scream that came next was so shrill, blood-curdling, high-pitched .. that the mere sound of it not only shook the entire forest to it's core, but woke the slumbering twin sisters. They witnessed as their mother, who had summoned this creature herself for unknown reasons, was ripped to shreds by the very thing she created. The last thing they remember, the last image in their minds, was this creature.. now having murdered their mother, turning itself on them. The screams echoed throughout the forest.
The fire soon burned out. The creature had vanished. The twin sisters were lost. They had little memory of that night; Perhaps it was a side-effect of the tea. Were they still on this mortal plane? All they knew is that they had to find out the truth.
So they wandered.
