This is the story of Hijo Sparhawk, Chongun and adopted son of Hijo Deimos. He is not a man of great importance. From his youth he aspired to be a Chongun, working to that end, he started training under the guidance of the Chongun Whitemask. Whitemask was a good teacher, but after the lessons just started to begin, Whitemask disappeared, leaving Sparhawk to the wind. Thinking all was lost, Sparhawk decided to contact SilentS, hoping the elder of the Chonguns could help him. After some consideration, Deimos was chosen to continue Sparhawk's education in the ways of the Chongunate.
Deimos was a tough, but fair guide. Teaching Sparhawk in the virtues of the Chongunate and the ways of Honor. Sparhawk was eager to learn all he could, trying his best in every task given to him. Deimos was happy in how Sparhawk was coming along. But Sparhawk had doubt in his heart. Thinking all was lost, he left the Chongunate, thinking the Totem God Chung Ryong had more to offer him. In his haste to become a great warrior, Sparhawk agreed to have the Totem mark him as a faithful warrior. Devistated by Sparhawks rash move, Deimos mourned the loss of one of his favorite students.
Working for the Totem God was hard work, much more then was promised. After every time Sparhawk called upon the strength of Chung Ryong, he was left battered and near the edge of death. Seeing that the arrangement was more one sided then he had ever expected. Deep in regret, Sparhawk traveled far and wide for answer to this regret, finaly reaching the Diviner Triantos. After a few attempts in the different divination forms, Triantos came up with the answer to Sparhawk's regret. Triantos told him that his true regret was in leaving the Chongunate, and nothing in the world would heal the wounds of the Totem Gods mark. Thinking all was lost, Sparhawk seeked out Deimos. To his suprise, Deimos was happy to see Sparhawk. Deimos spoke of a way to fix the deep regret buried in Sparhawk's soul. It was the trials of Hell.
Thinking he fianly had an answer to his problems, Sparhawk began the trials without a second thought. It was grueling work, and Deimos would not let up on Sparhawk. Knowing this was the only way to cleanse his soul, he made sure the trials would test his virtues over and over. Seeing his determination, Deimos was pleased with the way Sparhawk had grown. Opening the Chongunate up for Sparhawk again, Deimos invited Sparhawk into the Hijo family as his adopted son. Without a second thought Sparhawk accepted.
This begins the story of Hijo Sparhawk.
