I lived much of my young life as an orphan who never saw his own parent's faces even once. I was brought up by my father's brother, who lead a rather simple and solitary existence in the vast wilderness between Buya and Kuguryo. He taught me many of his skills so that I could be self-sufficient one day.

Once I had matured at the age of sixteen, I parted ways with my uncle and set out to find my place in this world. I took with me some basic provisions: food, water, clothing, gold, and a sword. I felt confident that the knowledge imparted to me by my uncle would see me through what lay ahead for me.

For a time, I wandered and eventually found myself outside the home of the Chonguns, penniless and hungry. I passed out from hunger, and some time later I awakened to find myself under the care of Hijo Kariya. She nursed me back to good health from my previously weakened state. During my recovery period, I was visited by the Hijo family head, Hijo Deimos. He extended an offer to take me into the Hijo family and train me in the ways of the Chongunate.

Considering the fact that I had no where else to turn to, I gladly accepted his offer. The training was rather difficult, but rewarding nonetheless. During my training with Deimos, I met a few of his past and present students, specifically Sparhawk and Kururugi.

I went through numerous types of training until I became a Cadet. If I recall correctly, I underwent quite a few tests to gauge my progression in the training. I remember one instance where I was pitted against a foe of roughly equal strength. Another instance I recall was when I picked up some experience in the labor intensive crafts and found a way to help people with them. I recall vividly the days I spent toiling in the Iron Labyrinth and in caves, mining the rocks for precious ores to be made into metal for my smithing skills through my smelting skills. I remember the hours I spent waiting for fish to bite so I could boil them to help feed some people were down on their luck. At one point, I also remember patrolling through the entire city of Kugnae, from gate to gate, checking out the various shops and places of interest. Not long after this, I became a Cadet.
