  Demeter Family

Long ago, on the southernmost tip of Kaya, a group of earthen kin once roamed the lands.  This tribe comprised of dozens of families - peasant hunters, gatherers, farmers, and fishermen who lived off the land and the sea.  Each person offered a set of unique strengths and skills that, when used in tandem with the rest of the group, allowed for fruitful development and harmonious living.  They were what some might call good people, perhaps what others may call peaceful people.  Whichever it is, the group knew nothing of war, bloodshed, or violence - nothing more, at least, than foolish sibling tiffs and rivalries.
Unfortunately, such a lifestyle could not be preserved forever - the city walls were ever expanding and nature was progressing as usual.  The wilderness area was greatly impeded upon by townsmen: trees were cut down, fruit and flowers were trampled over, and many of the animals that resided there had either fled or been killed.  The tribe was experiencing difficult times.  Despite it all, the group remained intact - strained and aggravated, but still together.

Deo Demeter, a native to the land, was one of the family Elders.  He had lived in the tribe nearly his entire life (his early adult life was shrouded in mystery) and was considered one of the wisest and most experienced leaders of the group - the one who held the families together through the troublesome years.  Naturally, in rise of the new threat, Deo was soon proclaimed the unofficial tribe leader - the man to praise and, even more, the man to blame should things go wrong.  Admittedly, the clan seemed to function well under his leadership, but its past splendor was clearly jaded.  For Deo, it all tended towards destruction and he was not prepared to greet lady chaos by the door.  The solution to his problems and the anecdote for his shaded soul became glaringly obvious.  It is said that even the strongest man cannot carry the world upon his shoulders; this tale is no exception.  The city pressure soon prevailed and Deo slumped into an inexplicable depressive state - his body was soon found beneath the seaside cliffs.

Deo's death signaled the end of an era; a somber turning point for the entire clan and finally, burdened by their receeding land and the death of Deo, the tribe began to crumble.

The first to leave - the catalyst, one might say - was Adiepho Demeter, Deo's youngest son.  Ashamed by his father's disgraceful abandonment, Adiepho fled the lands to start a new name for himself - he was never heard from again.  The others followed suit: families began to say their goodbyes and travel to new lands.  Most assimilated into the city life, some traveled to new, untouched territory, and a few remained in place.

Of those that remained was Deo's eldest son, Aeolus. Aeolus had shown great promise as a child and progressed into a capable man.  He was often viewed as Deo's heir to the throne, so to speak - the one trusted to lead what was left of the clan.  Aeolus led the few remaining families for nearly 15 years before the tribe was officially dissolved and the families scattered.  Aeolus was said to have traveled North to find his lost brother, but nothing has been heard from either one for years.  he disappeared with the rest.

As such, it is said that Deo's only two sons - Aeolus and Adiepho - currently survive the Demeter family, but nothing else is known of these brothers: where they are, who they have become...not even if they live.  The Demeter family has perhaps been lost, but not forgotten...
